pctrs keeps what it needs to show your photographs, and nothing more.
What pctrs keeps
- Your email, to sign in, confirm the address, reset a password, and send comment notifications if you turn them on. It is never shown on the site.
- Your display name, bio and profile photo. These are public.
- Your photographs as uploaded, with their EXIF. Location can be hidden in Settings. A hidden location stays in the original file and is not shown.
- What you do here, tied to your account: comments, appreciations, favourites, follows, blocks, reports and the locker. Nothing is counted in public.
- App sign-ins: one token per device and the device's name. They are listed in Settings, where each can be revoked.
- A record of each sign-in and each failed attempt: the time, the network address it came from, the way in and the device or browser's name. It is kept for ninety days so that odd sign-ins can be noticed, then deleted. The address is also held for a few minutes to limit sign-in attempts.
What pctrs does not do
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party scripts. The one outside request the website makes is for a picture of the map from Apple Maps, and only when you open the place mark on a photograph. A home you set in Settings is kept as a point and a radius, never shown, and used only to withhold the map for photographs taken near it. The app contains no third-party code.
- When a photograph carries coordinates, the server asks Apple Maps once, at upload, for the name of the place, so that a lake or a park is named rather than a pair of numbers. Only the coordinates go; nothing about you does.
- A private photograph is served to its owner and to whoever holds the side door of its folio, and to nobody else; it is not on the wall, in any feed, or reachable by its address. The words that make a side door are kept only as a hash.
- Nothing is sold or shared. Nothing learns from you.
Where it lives
- pctrs runs on servers it rents. Photographs and everything else live there.
- Free cabinets store their photographs on Apple's iCloud servers under pctrs's own account. They are not tied to your Apple Account.
- Email goes out through a transactional mail service, which sees your address and the message.
- Contributions on the website go through PayPal, which handles the payment. pctrs never sees card details.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. Your light or dark choice is kept in your browser. That is all.
Your choices
- Download everything you uploaded from Settings, originals and a file of titles, captions, tags and locations.
- Delete your cabinet from Settings, on the website or in the app. Photographs, comments, appreciations, favourites, the locker and sign-ins go at once. Moderation records about reported work are kept.
- Ask about anything at john@rfrmdwordlabs.com.
Ages
pctrs is intended for all ages. Members follow the house rules.
This page changes when pctrs does. pctrs is an rfrmdwordlabs.com project of RFRMD Word Labs LLC, Texas.
