Duomo di Orvieto
14th-century Roman Catholic cathedral - Before the Sistine, Michelangelo came here and studied. In the Cappella di San Brizio, Luca Signorelli’s Last Judgment was already on the walls; Michelangelo stayed with those figures, then took what he had learned to Rome. The cathedral around the chapel is a cliff-top reliquary of striped stone and gold mosaic. Wonderful place to visit.

I love God, and I keep finding his glory in beauty: a building that has stood for centuries, light on water, a face at the end of a long day. Photography is how I stop and look. Most of these pictures were made on the road with my family, who are the best part of any trip. What I hope you see here is not my eye but what was already there.
